CTCA UK Limited Provides Community Update on Festival and Governance Matters

CTCA UK Limited is sharing this update to provide the community with clear and accurate information regarding recent discussions concerning the organisation and the Turkish Cypriot Cultural Festival. Our aim is to promote transparency, unity, and understanding while avoiding unnecessary confusion or division. Following the CTCA Advisory Committee’s recent press release, the Directors of CTCA UK Limited felt it necessary to respond in order to dispel any misunderstanding and to clarify our position.

Who is CTCA UK Limited

CTCA UK Limited is a non-profit company established to serve the Turkish Cypriot community in the United Kingdom. The company operates in accordance with the Companies Act 2006 and its Articles of Association. All directors are required to act collectively, fulfil their legal duties, and act in the best interests of the company.

CTCA UK Limited founded and has historically organised the Turkish Cypriot Cultural Festival. The Festival’s name is protected through registered intellectual property rights and may not be used without appropriate authorisation.

The Festival exists for the benefit of the Turkish Cypriot and wider Turkish-speaking communities in the United Kingdom, bringing people together through culture, heritage, and community engagement.

CTCA UK Limited is a non-political organisation focused on cultural, community, and governance responsibilities.

The Chair of CTCA was appointed as a Director of CTCA UK Limited in order to represent CTCA members within the company’s governance structure.

About the Festival

A separate event has recently been advertised for 5 July 2026 using a name similar to that associated with the Turkish Cypriot Cultural Festival.

To avoid any misunderstanding:

This event is not organised or authorised by CTCA UK Limited.

CTCA UK Limited is not aware of any authorisation having been granted for the use of its protected festival name or associated intellectual property rights.

The official Turkish Cypriot Cultural Festival continues to be organised and administered by CTCA UK Limited.

CTCA UK Limited supports cultural events that benefit the community and does not seek to prevent other organisations from holding their own cultural activities or festivals. However, the company has a responsibility to protect its intellectual property, legal identity, and the reputation of the Festival for the benefit of the community.

These measures are intended solely to avoid public confusion and to maintain appropriate governance, safety, and organisational standards.

Clarifying Recent Commentary

Recent public commentary has resulted in a number of misunderstandings. For clarity:

CTCA UK Limited operates independently in accordance with its governing documents and legal obligations.

Decisions of the company are made collectively by the Board of Directors.

Board decisions are formally recorded in accordance with the company’s governance procedures.

The Board has identified a number of governance, operational, and financial reporting matters relating to the 2025 Festival that remain under review and clarification.

Directors are required to manage potential conflicts of interest and act in the best interests of the company at all times.

The Board has also undertaken routine governance and legal reviews concerning several matters. These reviews are precautionary in nature and are intended to ensure that the company continues to operate appropriately and in accordance with its legal obligations.

Director Resignation

The Board has received the resignation of Director Mr Nafi.

The Board is currently considering the appropriate governance steps in light of a number of outstanding matters that require clarification, information, and cooperation before all relevant records and governance processes can be fully concluded.

Until these processes have been completed, the company’s records and governance obligations remain subject to ongoing review in accordance with applicable legal and constitutional requirements.
